■ 네팔 대홍수 참사에 깊은 애도를 표하며, 우리 국민의 무사귀환을 간절히 기원합니다
히말라야 자락을 덮친 기록적인 대홍수로 수백 명의 목숨을 잃고 수천 명이 생사의 기로에 놓여 있습니다. 더불어민주당은 이번 참사의 희생자들께 깊은 애도를 표하며, 큰 아픔을 겪고 계실 유가족과 실종자 가족들께 진심 어린 위로의 마음을 전합니다.
골든타임이 지나고 악천후와 추가 범람의 위험까지 겹치면서 구조 여건은 극도로 엄중합니다. 그러나 진흙더미 속에 갇힌 실종자들의 숨결을 찾는 일에 ‘희망의 시한’은 있을 수 없습니다.
정부는 “국민의 생명과 안전에는 과잉대응이란 없다”는 확고한 기조 아래, 생사가 확인되지 않은 우리 국민 아홉 분의 무사귀환을 위해 외교·행정의 모든 역량을 총동원하고 있습니다. 더불어민주당은 정부의 수색·구조와 재외국민 보호 조치가 차질 없이 진행될 수 있도록, 국회 차원에서 필요한 지원을 아끼지 않겠습니다.
지금은 국경을 넘어선 연대와 협력이 절실한 때입니다. 국제사회의 구조와 지원이 이어지고 있는 가운데, 글로벌 중추국가로서 대한민국 역시 긴급 구호와 피해 복구, 인도적 지원과 협력에 적극 나서야 합니다. 재난 앞에서 연대는 선택이 아니라 국제사회의 공동 책무입니다.
이번 참사는 기후변화가 초래한 인류 공통의 재난입니다. 대한민국은 피해 지원을 넘어 기후위기 대응이라는 전 지구적 연대와 실천에도 함께 하겠습니다. 히말라야가 흘린 눈물은, 우리 모두를 향한 준엄한 경고이기 때문입니다.
다시 한번 희생자들의 명복을 빌며, 실종자들의 기적 같은 무사생환과 현장에서 헌신하는 구조대원들의 안전을 온 국민과 함께 간절히 기원합니다.
■ Our Deepest Condolences for the Victims of the Nepal Floods and Prayers for the Safe Return of Our Missing Nationals
Record-breaking floods across the foothills of the Himalayas have claimed hundreds of lives, putting thousands of lives at grave risk. The Democratic Party of Korea expresses its deepest condolences to the victims of this tragedy, and offers its heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and those enduring the agonizing wait for their missing loved ones.
Although the critical window for rescue has passed, and severe weather alongside the threat of secondary flash floods compounds the danger, there can be no deadline for hope as rescuers search for survivors trapped beneath the mud
Under the steadfast principle that "there is no such thing as overreaction when it comes to the lives and safety of our people," the government is mobilizing all diplomatic and administrative resources to ensure the safe return of the nine unaccounted-for Korean nationals. The Democratic Party of Korea will provide every necessary form of support in the National Assembly to ensure that search-and-rescue operations and overseas citizen protection measures proceed seamlessly.
Now is the moment for solidarity and cooperation that transcend borders. As the international community mobilizes aid, the Republic of Korea, as a responsible global member, will actively contribute to emergency relief, disaster recovery, and humanitarian assistance. In the face of catastrophe, solidarity is not an option, it is a shared global responsibility.
Furthermore, this disaster is a stark manifestation of a shared human tragedy driven by the climate change. Moving beyond immediate recovery aid, the Republic of Korea will join in global solidarity and action on the climate crisis. The tears of the Himalayas are a grave warning to us all
Once again, we pray for the eternal rest of the victims, the miraculous safe return of all missing persons, and the safety of the dedicated rescue workers striving on the ground.
